- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Wash, peel, and thinly slice potatoes (1/8-inch thick). Arrange in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Make the sauce: Melt butter, whisk in flour to create a roux. Gradually add milk and cream, then seasonings. Cook until thickened.
- Layer potatoes with sauce and cheeses. Repeat layers ending with cheese on top.
- Cover with foil and bake 45 minutes. Uncover and bake 15-20 more minutes until golden. Rest 10 minutes before serving.
