  • 4 large russet potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 2 tbsp butter, for greasing

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter. Peel and thinly slice potatoes and arrange in a single layer in the dish.
  2. In a saucepan, heat heavy cream with garlic, salt, pepper, and thyme. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  3. Pour half the sauce over the first potato layer. Repeat with remaining potatoes and sauce, pressing gently to coat.
  4. Sprinkle cheeses evenly on top. Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Remove foil and bake 20 more minutes until golden and bubbly.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg to the sauce.
  • Broil for 2-3 minutes for a crispier top.
