Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pre-made pie crust (or homemade if preferred)
- 2 cups fresh spinach, chopped
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half for a lighter version)
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or Gruyère work well)
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg (optional, for extra flavor)
- 1 tablespoon butter (for sautéing spinach)
- 1 small onion, finely diced (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish.
- Sauté onion (if using) and spinach in butter until wilted. Let cool.
- Whisk eggs, cream, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Stir in cheese and spinach mixture.
- Pour filling into crust and bake for 35-40 minutes until set and golden.
- Let cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Blind bake the crust for 10 minutes to prevent sogginess.
- Fresh spinach works best, but frozen (thawed and drained) can be used.
- Experiment with different cheeses like feta or goat cheese.
- Let quiche rest before slicing for cleaner cuts.
