Easter Dirt Cake Casserole

  • Total Time: 4 hours 20 minutes

Description

This Easter Dirt Cake Casserole is a fun and delicious no-bake dessert that’s perfect for Easter celebrations. Layers of chocolate pudding, crushed cookies, and creamy whipped topping create a playful ‘dirt’ effect that kids and adults will love. Topped with colorful candy eggs, this dessert is as festive as it is tasty!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (14.3 oz) package Oreo cookies
  • 1 (3.4 oz) package instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 (12 oz) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1 bag candy-coated chocolate eggs
  • Gummy worms for decoration (optional)

Instructions

  1. Crush Oreo cookies into fine crumbs using a food processor or by placing in a ziplock bag and crushing with a rolling pin. Set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together chocolate pudding mix and cold milk until thickened, about 2 minutes. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat together cream cheese, butter, and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
  4. Fold in whipped topping and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. In a 9×13 inch casserole dish, layer half of the crushed Oreos, followed by the cream cheese mixture.
  6. Spread the prepared chocolate pudding over the cream cheese layer.
  7. Sprinkle with mini chocolate chips.
  8. Top with remaining crushed Oreos.
  9. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to set.
  10. Before serving, decorate with candy eggs and gummy worms if desired.

Notes

  • For a quicker version, you can use pre-made chocolate pudding instead of instant mix.
  • This dessert can be made up to 2 days in advance – just wait to add the candy decorations until right before serving.
  • Try using different cookie varieties like golden Oreos or mint Oreos for fun flavor variations.
  • For a more dramatic ‘dirt’ effect, reserve some larger cookie chunks to sprinkle on top.
