Description
Enjoy flavorful Beef Tacos with Homemade Seasoning! This easy recipe lets you control ingredients for healthier, tastier ground beef tacos. Perfect for taco night!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 packet homemade taco seasoning (recipe follows)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 bell pepper, chopped (optional)
- 1 cup water
- Corn or flour tortillas
- Your favorite taco toppings (shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, sour cream, salsa, guacamole, etc.)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
- Stir in the onion and bell pepper (if using) and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the homemade taco seasoning and water. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and cook for 10-15 minutes, or until the liquid has reduced and the mixture has thickened.
- While the beef is simmering, prepare your favorite taco toppings. Shred lettuce, dice tomatoes, shred cheese, chop cilantro, and set out sour cream, salsa, and guacamole.
- Warm the tortillas according to package directions. Fill each tortilla with the seasoned ground beef mixture and top with your favorite toppings. Serve immediately.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the beef while cooking.
- Use ground turkey or chicken for a leaner version.
- Add corn, black beans, or zucchini to the beef mixture.
- Serve with Mexican rice and refried beans.
- Get creative with toppings like pickled onions or chipotle mayo.
